1865

William O. Mets and Rebel Tobacco.

In 1865, the American south lay smoldering after the Civil War. William  O. Mets, a retired Confederate soldier, had a dream. Tobacco would help the south rise from the ashes. His dream started as a five-acre plantation on the site of one of the war's bloodiest
battles. 

1870

"Work for a share of the crop..."

Using modern business and farming methods his company soon grew. His progressive and generous "work for a share of the crop" policy, attracted the best of the local workforce. 


1875

Rope, sheets and crosses.

In 1880, William O. Mets incorporated his Rebel Tobacco under the name of Host & Losck and soon diversified into sheets, rope and crosses to meet the demands of The New South.

 

1890

Fuego goes west...

William O. Mets acquires Fuego, maker of handcrfted repeating rifles that helped win the west. 

1900

From medicine bottles to big pharma.

With the purchase of Jumping Jake´s Emporium, William O. Mets led the way into a new century and a bright new future that would eventually spawn Arsta Downs, today´s largest #1 Comfort Pharmaceuticals company.

1910

As the automobile was conquering America, our newest company, Whatco Oil, was supplying the fuel. For over a century we've seen to it that everywhere  your car took you, we would be there to keep you on the road. No matter what.

To consolidate William O. Mets´ ever-growing empire Wemetco is formed. Our straight-forward, plain-talking business takes the stock market by storm.

William O. Mets dies.

In a freak hunting accident in Brooklyn, William O. Mets dies at the age of 87. He is given a hero´s funeral attended by thousands of well-wishers. His son William O. Mets II takes over.

"If I can´t buy it, I´ll bury it." This was the battle cry of Wemetco's new CEO, William O. Mets II. as he set out to make the company the world´s largest non-existent conglomerate by acquiring any company, by any means. It is under his leadership that the company grew by 280,000%.  

1990 - Present

It's one thing to be international, it's another to be global. The third generation of Mets has made Wemetco a force to be reckoned with. Never has a non-existent company been so influential and left such a mark on the age we live in.
